The Member of Parliament for Tano South, Charles Asiedu, has warned that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could suffer in the 2028 general election if it refuses to prosecute individuals accused of embezzling state funds.

He added that most Ghanaians have become watchdogs of the NDC’s campaign promises to prosecute corrupt officials if voted into power; therefore, they remain expectant, determined to ensure that such commitments are delivered.

Charles Asiedu“Those who have stolen the country’s money, if we refuse to make them face the laws and refund the money back to the state, 2028 election campaign, we will suffer, this is not the first time I am saying this here because we also represent some people in Ghana.

“Some people call some of us to complain about these people, so some of us, whichever way we can, make the law and the authorities who make laws work do their job; we will make sure they do it to punish them,” he stated on Angel TV on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

Touching on former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who is under investigation for corruption and related activities, Mr Asiedu cautioned Ghanaians not to assume that the former government appointee has committed no offense due to his release from the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following a judicial order.

He noted that the granting of bail in the US is separate from the charges pursued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in Ghana, and that the OSP is still pursuing the matter.

“So let no one mix these two to make it look like the OSP has failed because the way he wanted Ken Ofori Atta to be arrested has been granted bail, it is not the OSP’s stance that they arrested him in America,” he said.
