The Concerned Residents Association of Kasoa has strongly opposed the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly’s decision to redevelop part of the Kasoa Old Market, where over 1,000 petty traders were recently ejected.
The association’s president, Mr. Frank Boateng described the decision as “unlawful” and “illegal,” stating that the area is part of the Kasoa interchange project and could pose problems for future road expansion.
The group has threatened to sue the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Seth Banini, and the assembly if they proceed with building permanent structures in the area.
They have also called on Local Government Minister, Ammed Ibrahim, to intervene and potentially reshuffle the MCE.
The residents argue that the redevelopment plan is misguided and are urging authorities to reconsider.
