The Shiv India Institute of Management & Business (SIIMT) University College has celebrated a significant milestone at its third graduation ceremony.

SIIMT University College, established in 2013 and affiliated with the University of Cape Coast (UCC), is positioned to provide students with high-quality education in IT and business.

During the event, the Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Professor Augustine Ocloo, stated that the graduation marks the beginning of a new and purposeful chapter in the lives of the graduates.

He noted that the celebration reflects years of perseverance, hard work, and dedication.

“Today is not merely a ceremony; it is a celebration of perseverance, discipline, and ambition. Each graduate sitting here represents years of dedication, resilience, and sacrifice,” he said on Friday, April 24, 2026.

Prof. Ocloo further urged parents and guardians to continue supporting their wards as they step into the technological world.

“As your ward steps into a new phase of life, your role remains just as important, to guide them, challenge them, and support them as they navigate the complexities of the professional world.

“The values you have instilled in them will remain their compass, and your continuous encouragement will empower them to achieve even greater heights,” he added.

He emphasised that institutions like SIIMT play a crucial role in ensuring that graduates are not only qualified but also competent, ethical, and industry-ready.

According to him, Ghana’s future depends not simply on the number of graduates produced, but on how well prepared they are to confront and solve real-life challenges.

He also advised the graduates to use their knowledge and skills responsibly.

“You must use the knowledge and skills you have acquired to protect society and not to defraud it. As future technology professionals, you will handle systems that influence lives and livelihoods.

“You must therefore uphold integrity in digital practice, respect for data privacy, and cybersecurity,” he stressed.

The Director-General of the Human Resource Directorate, DCOP Frederick Kofi Blagodzi, also emphasised the importance of IT in today’s digital age.

“I must emphasize the critical importance of your field of study. In today’s digital age, security is no longer confined to physical spaces. Cybersecurity, data protection, and digital intelligence are now central to international safety and development,” he said.

However, he urged the graduands to use their knowledge to safeguard Ghana’s digital future.

“Ghana, like many nations, faces increasing cybercrime threats ranging from financial fraud to data breaches and digital espionage. Your knowledge and skills position you as key players in safeguarding our digital future,” he noted.

“You are not just graduates; you are defenders of our nation, architects of systems, and innovators who will shape the technological direction of our country.

“With this knowledge comes responsibility. Use your expertise ethically, apply your skills to solve real-world problems, and protect rather than exploit the systems we build and manage. Integrity must guide your actions, because technology without ethics can be more dangerous than ignorance.”

He concluded, saying, “With the abundant resources you have in data and technology, use them to protect society, not to exploit it.

The ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Professor Sarah Darkwa, Professor of Food Science at the University of Cape Coast; Dr. Raju Sonavane, Founder and Rector; Ing. Sanjay Sonavane, Founder and Chairman; and Rupali Sonavane, Registrar.

The graduates also shared their experiences during their years of studying at SIIMT University College, highlighting moments of breakdowns and stress throughout their journey.

“It was really a great journey, through this four years, there has been hardships, up and downs but by God’s grace we made it, I want to thank the Rector of SIIMT university college for helping us through and coming out successfully,” a graduate expressed.
