Six ‘fake’ national security operatives arrested at Agona Swedru

Police have arrested six men suspected of impersonating national security operatives for allegedly assaulting and harassing some Chinese nationals at a company in the Central Region.

The six suspects were identified as Agyemang Benjamin, 32; Mahama Iddrisu Dawuda Seidu, 48; Ofori Isaac, 35; Adom Bills, 32; Hayford Boafo, 47; and Ato Mchenry, 48.

They were arrested following a distress call received by the Agona Swedru District Police Command on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at about 12:00 p.m, a statement issued by the Cape Coast Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service on Thursday, May 7, 2026, confirmed.

Police said the distress report indicated that the six suspects, who were travelling in a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GW 8887-V, stormed S. I Jun Manufacturing Company Limited at Agona Akwakwa near Mankrong Nkwanta while dressed in military and immigration uniforms.

The statement disclosed that three of the suspects were dressed in Ghana Immigration Service camouflage uniforms, one was dressed in a military uniform, while the remaining two were in mufti.

According to police, the suspects allegedly claimed to be National Security operatives and were reportedly assaulting and harassing some Chinese nationals at the company’s premises.

Upon receiving the information, a team of police officers was dispatched to the scene, where they found the vehicle parked at the location.

Police said three Chinese nationals identified as Man Guan, Chin Min, and Ma Kaixiang had been handcuffed by the suspects before officers intervened.

They were immediately arrested and are currently in police custody at the Agona Swedru District Police Headquarters, assisting with investigations.

The statement added that the Military Police, Ghana Immigration Service, and National Security have been contacted to verify the identities of the suspects while investigations into the case are ongoing.
