The Ghana National Fire Service has received a major boost to its emergency response capacity following the presentation of a Mercedes-Benz fire tender and firefighting equipment at the Accra International Airport (AIA).

The donation was made by Mr. Storms Menri in partnership with Fire Aid & International Development in the United Kingdom.

It was officially handed over at a short ceremony attended by the Deputy Minister for the Interior, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Ghana Government, Mr. Terlabi expressed the government’s appreciation to Mr. Menri and the UK partners for their generosity, describing it as a reflection of “a strong spirit of partnership and a shared commitment to protecting lives and property.”

He noted that the donation comes at a critical time and will significantly strengthen the operational capacity of the Fire Service, enabling faster and more effective responses to emergencies.

Mr. Terlabi also commended the Chief Fire Officer, leadership, and personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service for their courage and professionalism under challenging conditions, reiterating the government’s commitment to retooling the Service and improving working conditions.

He added that the government will continue to pursue international partnerships to enhance the capacity of the country’s emergency services.
