Ghana’s Women’s U-20 team, the Black Princesses, have secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup slated for September in Poland.

The Princesses sealed their place on Saturday, May 9, after holding Uganda to a 1-1 draw in Kampala, advancing 3-2 on aggregate over two legs.

On a sunny afternoon in Kampala, Linda Owusu Ansah scored in the 78th minute to level the match after Uganda had taken the lead in the 6th minute.

Ghana played the final stages with ten players following the dismissal of Margaret Agyapomaa in the 68th minute, but showed resilience to hold on for the crucial draw.

The Black Princesses entered the second leg with a 2-1 advantage from the first leg and needed to avoid defeat to progress. Owusu Ansah’s strike from a corner ensured Ghana’s passage to the tournament scheduled for September in Poland.

This qualification marks Ghana’s eighth appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, following previous participations in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2022, and 2024.
