The Eastern Regional Police Intelligence Department (PID) has intercepted a large consignment of suspected Indian hemp worth over GH¢2 million and arrested a 38-year-old welder, Solomon Tettey, for attempted bribery.
The operation, conducted on May 10, 2026, followed intelligence received by the PID indicating that suspects had stored narcotics at a house in Akosombo-Bonya, Krobo-Odumase.
Police trailed a Hyundai Rhino truck to a secluded area near Atua Government Hospital, where suspects were transferring the cargo to a Howo Zonda tipper truck.
Tettey allegedly claimed ownership of the trucks and cargo, stating it was bound for Nigeria, and attempted to bribe officers with GH¢100,000.
Police recovered 6,400 slabs of suspected narcotics and arrested Tettey after he transferred GH¢90,000 via Mobile Money and handed over GH¢10,000 in cash.
