Cease the hostile actions towards health workers or face our wrath – GMA warns Health Minister

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), also known as MahamaCares, has supported the treatment of 54 patients with approximately GHS 5 million in the past four months.

Technical Advisor to the Administrator of the GMTF, Dr. Norbert Mantu Kipo, disclosed this on Friday, May 15, 2026 in an interview on Angel FM’s ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ’, highlighting the fund’s progress since its inception.

“We have supported about Fifty-four patients, so far in the management of those Fifty-four patients, we spent close to five million Ghana cedis. Every patient, averagely spent about eighty to ninety thousand,” he revealed.

According to Dr. Kipo, the conditions treated range from open heart surgery for children to various types of cancer, including breast and cervical cancer.

He noted that the fund has also covered chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgeries for patients with brain tumors and bone conditions.

Dr. Kipo emphasized that the pilot phase of the program has been instrumental in shaping its current operations, and GMTF plans to add more conditions and expand its services gradually.
