The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has praised the Okere Constituency for its longstanding contribution to Ghana’s political leadership, describing former Local Government Minister Dan Kwaku Botwe as a national political icon whose influence extends beyond his home constituency.

Speaking as Special Guest of Honour during the “Pens Down” programme for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates at Adukrom in the Okere Constituency, Hon. Baffour Awuah said Okere has consistently produced influential leaders who have played key roles in national development.

The Manhyia South MP, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee of Parliament, described the constituency as a strong political force with a rich leadership tradition.

“Okere has gifted Ghana great leaders like Dan Botwe, a national icon whose legacy remains unmatched in our political history,” he stated.

According to him, the constituency has successfully sustained that leadership tradition over the years, with the current Member of Parliament, Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth, continuing that legacy.

He described Hon. Addo-Kenneth as a worthy successor to the political foundation laid by previous leaders from the constituency.

Hon. Baffour Awuah further commended the Okere MP’s performance in Parliament, noting that despite being a first term legislator, he has already distinguished himself through active participation in parliamentary proceedings and meaningful contributions to national debates.

He said the MP’s growing influence and visibility in Parliament reflects the leadership qualities associated with the Okere Constituency.

The Okere MP, Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth, in a brief remark, reaffirmed his commitment to youth development and educational support, stressing that the “Pens Down” initiative is designed to guide BECE graduates into Senior High School with discipline and purpose.

According to him, the programme goes beyond celebration and is aimed at shaping the moral and academic direction of graduates as they transition to the next stage of their education.

“This initiative is about direction and opportunity for every child in Okere,” he said.

He added that the ultimate goal of his leadership is to ensure that no child is left behind due to financial constraints.

He further encouraged graduates facing challenges to seek help through appropriate channels, including teachers and traditional leaders.

“Whenever you face difficulties, speak to your teachers or your chiefs. Once it reaches me, I will do my best to support you,” he added.

The remarks formed part of activities at the “Pens Down” event, a youth centred initiative championed by Okere MP Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth, aimed at guiding BECE graduates into Senior High School through mentorship, discipline, and leadership engagement.
