Mahama commissions Ambassadors-designate to Japan and Ethiopia

President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned the Ambassadors-designate to the State of Japan and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, in a ceremony held on May 13, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.

They are Mr. Humphery Chatio Ajongba and H.E. Mr. McArios Akanbeanab Akanbong. In line with established practice, the Envoys took the Oaths of Allegiance, Office, and Secrecy.

In his remarks, President Mahama urged the Envoys to leverage their experience as Career Diplomats to further strengthen the longstanding relations between Ghana and their respective countries.

He emphasized the need for results-oriented diplomacy that would deliver economic benefits to the people of Ghana. The President indicated the size of tasks ahead of them and expressed confidence in their ability to discharge their duties effectively.

The Ambassador-designate for the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, H.E. Mr. McArios Akanbeanab Akanbong, thanked H.E. the President, in his own name and on behalf of his colleague Ambassador, H.E.

Mr. Humphery Chatio Ajongba, for nominating them as Ambassadors of Ghana to Ethiopia and Japan, and for the confidence reposed in them.

He commended the President for the economic growth Ghana has recorded on all fronts so far and promised they would discharge their duties effectively in the interest of Mother Ghana.

Present at the ceremony were the Chief of Staff, Honourable Julius Debrah, Mr. Stanislav Xoese Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), Mrs. Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Presidential Adviser & Special Aide to the President, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
