Interior Minister commissions new vehicles for Fire Service

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, commissioned utility vehicles for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to strengthens mobility, improve emergency response, and enhance the Service’s operational efficiency across the country.

The commissioned logistics included two Toyota Hiace mini buses, four Nissan Navara pick-ups, one Toyota Camry saloon vehicle, procured by Government for the Service, and a and a Honda motorbike, which was donated to the GNFS.

According to the Minister, the commissioning demonstrates Government’s commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the Fire Service in its mandate to protect lives, property, and critical national infrastructure.

“These vehicles being commissioned today will support operational duties, improve mobility, and enhance emergency response capabilities of the Service,” Muntaka stated.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving logistics and welfare within the Service as part of broader efforts to build a capable and responsive emergency service.

He further revealed that processes are far advanced for the procurement of 100 fire engines and other rescue equipment to support fire operations nationwide.

The Minister commended the leadership and personnel of the Service for their dedication and sacrifice, urging them to ensure the vehicles are properly maintained and used for their intended purpose to benefit the people of Ghana.

In her remarks, the Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sapong, expressed gratitude to Government for the continuous support and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to efficiency, professionalism, and the responsible use and maintenance of the vehicles.
