Actor and entrepreneur Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has called on Ghanaians who purchased ‘fake mattresses’ to return them for refunds, following widespread reports of substandard products in the market.

In an Instagram post addressing the ongoing “fake mattress saga,” Lilwin urged affected buyers to act immediately.

The controversy stems from allegations that some Chinese manufacturers have been producing and selling mattresses to Ghanaians using substandard materials.

Revelations about the products have prompted many consumers to cut open their mattresses to verify the contents, with some finding foam, rubber, or other questionable materials instead of quality filling.

“I beg you all, if you have cut your mattress and you have found out it’s fake, pick up your receipt and let’s go for money from where we bought the mattresses,” Lilwin stated.

“Wherever you bought that mattress, return it and collect your money,” he added.

The actor said he had already contacted the manager of the outlet where he purchased his own mattress. “He says I should bring it and come for my money,” Lilwin disclosed.

He added that once he secures his refund, he plans to identify a reputable company that produces quality mattresses and shares the information publicly.

“I will find a proper company that makes very good mattresses and buy from them. After, I will inform you all so that you also buy your mattresses there,” he said.

Lilwin also addressed buyers who no longer have receipts. “Don’t be sad if you have cut your foam. I will find a better company for you to buy mattresses with 30% discount,” he noted. “If you don’t have the receipt, too, don’t worry. Sew back the mattress you have torn and patiently wait for me to get an original company so that you can buy at a discounted price of 30%.”

The fake mattress issue has gained traction on social media in recent weeks, with multiple videos showing consumers slicing open mattresses to expose the materials used.
