ORAL cases invloving Wontumi, Adu Boahene and Gifty Oware resume this week

The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) has announced that several high-profile cases linked to anti-corruption and anti-illegal mining have been scheduled for hearing in various courts across the country this week.

The cases, which are expected to be heard between May 25 and May 29, 2026, were disclosed on ORAL’s official Facebook page on Monday, May 25.

According to the schedule, the week begins with two cases on Monday, including the Republic versus Akonta Mining and three others in the Tano-Nimiri Forest Reserve mining case at Criminal Court 1, where evidence-in-chief and cross-examination of the third prosecution witness are expected to continue.

Also on the same day, the Republic versus Kwabena Adu Boahene and two others in the cybersecurity software scandal case is scheduled before Specialized Court 1 for the cross-examination of the third prosecution witness.

On Tuesday, May 26, three cases are expected to be heard. These include the continuation of the Akonta Mining case, the cybersecurity software scandal case involving Kwabena Adu Boahene and two others, and the Republic versus Gifty Oware Mensah in the National Service case, where the first prosecution witness is expected to be cross-examined.

The schedule indicates that four cases will be heard on Thursday, May 28. They include the Court of Appeal ruling in the Republic versus Kwabena Adu Boahene and two others case, the continuation of the cybersecurity software scandal case before Specialized Court 1.

The Republic versus Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba and another in the buffer stock case for disclosures and a case management conference, and the Republic versus Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, and two others in the Samreboi illegal mining case.

According to ORAL, the accused in the Samreboi illegal mining case are expected to call additional witnesses.

The final hearing listed for the week is on Friday, May 29, when the Akonta Mining and three others case returns to Criminal Court 1 for the continued cross-examination of the third prosecution witness.

The listed cases form part of proceedings scheduled to take place in courts during the week under review.
