Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has arrived in Guyana ahead of the country’s 60th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
She departed Ghana on Sunday, May 24, 2026, as part of Ghana’s representation at the historic national event commemorated by the government and people of Guyana.
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang was welcomed by Ghana’s Ambassador to Brazil, H.E. Nii Amasah Namoale, Guyanese officials, and members of the Ghanaian community.

Guyana gained independence from British colonial rule in 1966 and is thus celebrating 60 years of independence this year.
The anniversary celebrations are anticipated to feature a series of official state events, cultural showcases, and engagements highlighting Guyana’s history, achievements, and future aspirations.

Ghana and Guyana have maintained cordial diplomatic relations over the years, with both countries continuing to explore opportunities for collaboration across several sectors of mutual interest.
