The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) early talent identification and integration programme for footballers of Ghanaian descent in the United Kingdom has commenced successfully.
The initiative aims to strengthen Ghana’s future national teams by identifying, nurturing, and integrating dual-national talents to represent the country.
Launched in the UK on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the Ghana High Commission hosted a strategic Parents’ Engagement Session.
The event was supported by the GFA in partnership with Coach Hene Sports Club, the Ghana High Commission UK, and Prince Lamona Consult.
The engagement brought together parents of young footballers, football stakeholders, and prominent personalities, including former Chelsea and Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien.
Following the session, 40 players of Ghanaian descent, born in the UK and currently developing in Category One academies, participated in the exercise.
These players, ranging from U15 to U20, came from top academies including Chelsea FC, Everton FC, Manchester City FC, and Arsenal FC, among others.
The assessments were conducted by GFA Technical Director Prof. Mintah, FIFA Talent Coach Stuart McLaren, and coaches from Coach Hene Sports Club, who closely monitored standout performers during the session in Bromley.
According to the GFA, the programme will be expanded to include Category Two and Three academies, as well as grassroots football across the UK and beyond in the coming months.
