Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikwei North, Theresa Lardi Awuni has provided relief items and cash support to 85 flood victims across seven electoral areas in the constituency.

The donation comes after last month’s floods caused hardship for families in the area.

Speaking to the media during the distribution at Alogboshie in Accra, Awuni said she was moved by the difficulties affected residents are facing and pledged to continue assisting them to rebuild their lives.

“It was unfortunate for them to endure the difficulty brought to them by the flood, but it was a natural disaster. I will continue to liaise with other authorities to ensure the needed support is extended to them,” she said.

The MP secured the relief items through the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) with support from the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Christian Tetteh Badger.

The 85 beneficiaries were drawn from seven electoral areas: Christian Village, Kisseman, Alogboshie, Nii Boi, Akweteyman, Achimota Old Station, and Abofu.

Items distributed included mattresses, blankets, buckets, mats, bags of rice, soaps, and other essentials, along with undisclosed amounts of cash to help victims cope in the interim.
