J.A. Plant Pool (GH) Limited and its Executive Chairman, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, have said they will “vigorously defend” a suit filed by the Attorney General seeking to recover $2 million allegedly owed under the District Road Improvement Programme, DRIP.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, the company and Dr. Agyepong “categorically deny any indebtedness” to the government or its agencies arising from the contract dated February 12, 2024.

According to the statement, the contract was preceded by Public Procurement Authority, PPA, approval on January 10, 2024, for the government to procure equipment and machinery from J.A. Plant Pool at a cost of $178,704,739.50.

The company stated that the PPA approval obtained by the Government, and not J.A. Plant Pool, stated the contract sum as $178,704,739.50 as the cost of the machines and equipment.

J.A. Plant Pool said the contract has since been fully performed, with all machines and equipment supplied to the Government of Ghana.

“As the Attorney General knows, the Contract has since been fully performed… All payments required to be made under the Contract have been made in strict accordance with the terms of the Contract,” the statement read.

The company and Dr. Agyepong described the suit as filed in “bad faith” and said they have instructed lawyers to challenge it and ensure its dismissal.

They also cited “severe and unjustified reputational damage” to J.A. Plant Pool, the Jospong Group of Companies and their local and international business partners due to what they called the “widespread publication of the suit in the media.”

The statement urged the public to “disregard the imputations of wrongdoing conveyed by wide publication of the suit,” adding that the Jospong Group remains committed to transparency, accountability and lawful conduct.
