Some residents behind the Adenta KFC in the Greater Accra Region have accused the Municipal Assembly of carrying out what they described as an unfair demolition exercise within the enclave.
According to them, the demolition exercise, which targeted their structures and shops, was undertaken without prior notice.
The affected residents argued that the land is not situated on an unauthorized site; therefore, they could not comprehend why such a move was taken.
They explained that they have invested their life savings into building their homes and businesses on the land in question.
Many questioned how they are expected to survive after losing their source of livelihood.
One woman, overwhelmed with emotion, asked: “Should we now use our bodies and go into prostitution just to survive?”
Expressing their frustrations to Angel News, some alleged that the land is being cleared to make way for private investors and Chinese businesses, a claim they say has deepened their pain and anger.
They are calling on the government and relevant authorities to investigate the matter and ensure that justice is served for the affected families.
