Ghanaian media personality, DJ Ohemaa Woyeje, has dismissed longstanding rumours of a feud between herself and television host Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay, insisting that there has never been any vendetta involving both parties.
Speaking in an interview, Ohemaa Woyeje stated that her career has never been built on controversies, trends, or conflicts, but rather on hard work, respect, and creating content that resonates with people across generations.
“I have no issues with Delay, and I’m not someone who thrives on feuds. My brand was built on hard work, consistency, and content that resonates with and inspires people, especially the older generation. That is why it has remained relevant, strong, and well-established over the years,” she said.
According to her, maintaining professionalism and respect has enabled her to work successfully across several media houses since relocating to Accra.
“If I were the type of person who constantly engaged in conflicts, I doubt I would have maintained a career with just three media houses since moving to Accra. That speaks to my level of professionalism, respect for authority, and ability to work with others.
“However, I also believe in standing up for myself. If something is not right or there is no mutual understanding, I won’t simply agree for the sake of it. I’m human, and like everyone else, I have my limits,” she added.
Addressing the origins of the rumours, Ohemaa Woyeje recounted events that occurred during their time at Top FM. She explained that speculation began after she was selected to take over a programme following Delay’s departure from the station.
She revealed that management contacted her to host the show after learning that Delay was preparing to leave, creating a gap in the station’s programming.
“Many people assumed there was tension between us because of what transpired at Top FM. At the time, management was unaware that Delay was planning to leave the station. However, someone informed them, and the manager subsequently reached out to me to step in and host the programme to fill the gap her departure would create,” she explained.
Ohemaa Woyeje said she was tasked with bringing her unique multilingual presentation style to the programme, especially as Delay had already built a strong audience for the station.
She stressed that despite public perceptions, there has never been any personal conflict between them.
“There has never been any bad blood between us. In fact, Delay once invited me onto her show for an interview, and I gladly accepted. We have always maintained a cordial relationship. Unfortunately, people within the industry often fuel speculation and create narratives that do not exist, usually for their own interests,” she stated.
The celebrated broadcaster concluded by advising people not to be distracted by public opinion, noting that paying too much attention to rumours can prevent individuals from progressing in life.
