Popular Man of God, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has addressed public concerns about a viral video in which he spoke about arrangements for his eventual funeral.
His clarification comes amid an earlier statement that only his children should be responsible for the funeral arrangements when he passes away.
No family member, including my wife, should handle my funeral when I die – Bishop Obinim
In a new video shared online, the controversial preacher explained that the public did not see the full version of his earlier remarks and insisted that some key details were left out.
According to him, he intends to release the complete video to provide proper context.
“The public didn’t get to see the full video. There are some things I said which weren’t posted, so I want to make a breakdown about what happened. I will bring out the full video when I’m done,” he stated.
Clarifying his position, Bishop Obinim said he never barred his family members or wife from attending his funeral. Rather, he said they would not be involved in organising the funeral arrangements.
“I said the day I will die, my family should come to my funeral, but they can’t partake in the funeral arrangements. Florence Obinim is also exempted from the funeral arrangements, but she must come to the funeral and perform widowhood rites because she’s the only wife I have. I haven’t married anyone else apart from her,” he explained.
The preacher further revealed that his decision was influenced by how the funeral of late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, was handled.
According to Obinim, disagreements and controversies surrounding the musician’s funeral contributed to making his wishes known ahead of time.
“I’m doing this because of how Lumba’s funeral went. If he had done or said what I’m saying earlier before his death, his funeral wouldn’t have been like how it went. It was ugly and not well arranged. I will not let my funeral go on like that,” he said.
Bishop Obinim also dismissed suggestions that his comments were linked to problems in his marriage. He stressed that he and his wife, Florence Obinim, remain on good terms and are still happily married.
He urged the public not to misinterpret his remarks or assume there is tension between him and his wife because of his plans regarding his funeral arrangements.
