The Community 22 District Court has convicted and fined Desmond Bosomtwe 100 penalty units for assaulting Priscilla Addo, a midwife at the Community 22 Polyclinic in Tema.

He has also been ordered to pay GH₵5,000 in compensation to the victim and is temporarily banned from the health facility, effective Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the date of judgment.

Mr. Bosomtwe was made to sign a bond of good behaviour.

Deputy National Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association(GRNMA), Philemon Gyapong, told Citi News that the association acknowledged the court’s ruling.

“He was made to sign a bond of good behaviour. He’s to pay a compensation of GHC5,000 to the midwife. The judiciary has acted timeously, and that is what we expected.

“We had hoped the gentleman would receive a stiffer punishment to serve as a deterrent to others. But that is what the law says, we accept it,” he stated after the court ruling.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, when Priscilla Addo, a senior staff midwife on duty, asked visitors to leave the ward after visiting hours had ended in line with hospital protocols.
