The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, has lamented the increasing drug abuse, particularly among the youth across the country.
According to him, the indiscriminate abuse of drugs is posing a serious challenge to the future of the youth in the country.
Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu made these remarks when the Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission, together with some Management members, paid a working visit to him as part of preparation towards the commemoration of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the UPSA Main Auditorium.
The visit was to use his office to advocate against the drug abuse menace in the country, as well as officially invite him to the grand durbar of the World Drug Day.
Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu commended the management of NACOC for their commitment to the fight against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the country.
On his part, Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, the Director-General of NACOC, thanked the Chief Imam and his office for granting his team the audience.
Brigadier General Obuba Mantey highlighted the rate at which the abuse of drugs is destroying many innocent lives, hence the need for all stakeholders to come on board to support NACOC in the fight against drug abuse.
