The National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has resigned from his role with immediate effect.
According to him, the decision followed a careful reflection, describing his tenure in office as a great honour and privilege.
Nii Lantey Vanderpuye stated that he leaves office with immense gratitude, takes pride in the work the Programme has accomplished together, and is optimistic about its future.
In a statement on Friday, June 12, 2026, the former Odododiodio MP cited his intention to contest a National Executive position within the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“My resignation is to enable me pursue a National Executive position within our great party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This decision is driven by my desire to continue serving our party and country in a different capacity, while contributing to the strengthening of our democratic traditions and institutions,” he said.
He thanked President John Dramani Mahama for the honor done him by reposing his trust in him to head the Programme.
“I am deeply grateful for the confidence reposed in me and for the opportunity to contribute to a programme that is transforming local infrastructure and improving lives across our communities,” he added.
The former Sports Minister, who now focuses on his bid to contest the National Chairmanship of the NDC, said he remains fully committed to the vision and success of President Mahama’s administration and the ideals of the party.
