Chief of Staff, Dr. Julius Debrah, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, has planted a shea tree at the Jubilee House to commemorate Shea Month, describing the exercise as a symbol of the government’s commitment to developing Ghana’s shea industry.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Debrah said the tree planting was “a symbolic demonstration of the Government’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s shea industry and unlocking its immense economic potential.”
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the sector through strategic interventions, saying, “As we commemorate Shea Month, I reaffirm the Government’s resolve to support the growth of the sector through strategic partnerships, value addition, and increased investment across the shea value chain.”
The Chief of Staff also appealed to industry stakeholders, development partners, investors, and businesses to work together to expand the industry.
He urged them to “join the Global Shea Alliance and work together to protect, promote, and expand the shea industry for the benefit of our communities, particularly women whose livelihoods depend on it.”
Dr. Debrah expressed confidence that greater collaboration would help position Ghana as a key player in the global shea market.
“Together, we can position Ghana as a leading force in the global shea economy while creating sustainable jobs, driving inclusive growth, and improving livelihoods,” he stated.
