The National Coordinator of the National Recreation and Wellness Programme (NaRWP), Betty Nana Efua Krosbi Mensah, has resigned from her position effective July 1, 2026.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the President through the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Krosbi Mensah said the decision was to enable her pursue her aspiration for the position of National Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“This decision has not been an easy one. However, after careful reflection and in accordance with the constitutional requirements of the National Democratic Congress regarding government appointees seeking elective party office, I have decided to step down from my current role to pursue my aspiration for the position of National Women’s Organiser of our great party,” she wrote.

She expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the appointment and to the Minister of Sports and Recreation for his “guidance, support, and leadership throughout my tenure.”

“Serving in this role has been one of the greatest privileges of my public life. Together, we laid the foundation for a national movement that seeks to place recreation, wellness, preventive healthcare, and active living at the centre of national development,” the letter stated.

She added that she was confident the NaRWP would “continue to grow and impact lives under the Ministry’s leadership,” describing the vision as “timely” with “immense” potential national impact.

“As I take this next step in my political journey, I remain fully committed to the ideals of service, empowerment, inclusion, and national development that have guided my work over the years,” she noted.
