Ghana’s Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, visited the Black Stars at the team hotel in Toronto on Tuesday to offer words of encouragement ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup opener against Panama.

The Vice President was accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Baffoe Bonnie; Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada, H.E. Professor Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh; and Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Chief of Juaben Traditional Area, who represented His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene.

Addressing players and technical staff, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang conveyed the goodwill of President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana. She urged the team to show discipline, unity, and determination as they begin their World Cup campaign at BMO Field on Wednesday.

“The entire nation is behind you. Go out there and make Ghana proud,” the Vice President said.

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, who received the delegation alongside members of the Black Stars Management Committee, thanked the Vice President and the delegation for the morale-boosting visit.

“The presence of such a distinguished delegation shows how important this team is to the nation. We are grateful, and the players are motivated to deliver,” Mr. Okraku said.

The Black Stars face Panama at 11:00 PM on Wednesday, June 17, in their Group L opener.
