A member of music duo Keche, Joshua Kojo Ampah, popularly known as Keche Joshua, has expressed disappointment in the Black Stars performance despite their victory in their opening match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on the team’s display, the artiste said he was not impressed by the manner in which Ghana played and believes stronger opponents could have heavily punished the team.
“Let me tell the truth and be honest. Charlie, I’m not happy at all. I see people celebrating, but looking at the game the boys played yesterday, if we had faced England, they could have scored us like 10 goals. If God had not intervened with that kind of performance, we would have suffered,” he said.
Keche Joshua further revealed that the match left him emotionally distressed, adding that he struggled to eat because of the anxiety he experienced while watching the game.
“Yesterday, I couldn’t even eat because of how worried I was. If not for the substitutions and tactical changes made by the coach, we would have been disgraced by now,” he stated.
The musician, however, urged the Black Stars to improve in subsequent matches as they pursue qualification to the next stage of the tournament.
“Black Stars must rise to the occasion because we need to qualify. It took us more than a hundred minutes before we could score a goal. We need to do better going forward,” he added.
His remarks come after Ghana recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over Panama in their opening match of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, a performance that has sparked divided opinions among supporters and football analysts.
