Former Chief of Staff Frema Opare urges students to focus on personal development

Former Minister for Food and Agriculture and Abetifi MP, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to move beyond internal disputes and focus on rebuilding the party for victory in 2028.

He stressed that unity remains the most important requirement for the party’s political recovery following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

“NPP must put aside differences and focus on 2028 victory,” Dr. Acheampong said, underscoring what he described as the party’s urgent national assignment.

In a statement, he warned that continued factional tensions could weaken the party’s chances if not addressed, urging members to prioritise collective goals over personal grievances.

According to him, the NPP must transition from internal competition to consolidation, saying: “We must put aside differences and focus on rebuilding for victory in 2028.”

Dr. Bryan Acheampong emphasised the need for unity behind the party’s flagbearer, Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as the central figure around whom all factions must rally.

He noted that although emotions remain high among supporters of various aspirants, including Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, such divisions must not be allowed to derail the party’s broader ambitions.

“Unity is how we win,” he stated, adding that internal blame games must give way to reconciliation and strategic rebuilding.

Dr. Acheampong also acknowledged that some of the harsh exchanges during the party’s internal contests were regrettable, but insisted they should not define the NPP’s future direction.

He further cautioned against attributing the actions of individuals during the primaries to the party leadership, urging members to avoid narratives that deepen mistrust.

Dr. Bryan Acheampong reiterated that only a united party, focused on shared purpose and discipline, can position the NPP for electoral success in 2028.
