Floods have submerged more than 1,500 homes across Samreboi and the Amenfi West, Amenfi Central, and Amenfi East districts, displacing thousands in Western Region after days of relentless rain.
Roads are impassable, businesses have shuttered, parents and children are sleeping in the open with no access to shelter, food, or medical care. The scale of loss has left communities in despair, with lives lost in the deluge.
The disaster has cut off large parts of the Wassa area. Homes are submerged, farms destroyed, and key access routes blocked, hampering relief efforts.
Managing Director of Samartex Timber and Plywood, Dr. Richard Kweku Duah Nsenkyire, is leading local support on the ground, but residents say the scale of devastation is beyond any single company or individual.
They are urging President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and the ministries of Environment, Lands and Natural Resources, Defense, and Education to deploy emergency resources to Samreboi and the wider Wassa enclave.
Immediate needs include heavy equipment to clear roads, emergency food and water supplies, mobile clinics, and a coordinated government plan for rescue and rebuilding.
“This is not just Samreboi’s fight, it is Ghana’s fight. Our children, our families, and our future depend on swift, compassionate action,” residents say.
