The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has directed Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL) to immediately reverse a decision to suspend all staff contracts, describing the move as unacceptable.

In a statement dated Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the Ministry said it had taken note of a GDCL circular “temporarily suspending employment contracts of all staff of the centre … pending comprehensive assessment,” which was to take effect from July 1.

The Ministry said it takes a “very strong view” of the directive and has instructed management to reverse it. All GDCL staff have been asked to disregard the suspension.

The Ministry noted that the order comes at a time when staff have been personally affected by the June 29th floods in Accra.

It said it stands with its staff and the staff of all its agencies.

Management of the Centre has been invited to the Ministry on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

The meeting follows the Minister’s visit to the Centre on Tuesday, June 30, to assess damage to the facility and to businesses operating from the premises.
