The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has disregarded reports circulating on social media claiming that Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has resigned following Ghana’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His remarks come after the Portuguese tactician, in a Facebook post, announced that he “leaves this journey with pride in what we achieved, but with the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always wanted more.”
Reacting to the development, the minister downplayed the resignation reportage and asserted that he would only believe the news through appropriate formal communication regarding the coach’s future.
“We have not received any resignation letter from the FA to that effect, and I don’t take it that people resigned on social media. He wasn’t appointed on social media, so I don’t think that he resigned via social media.
“We have all been watching the games, and so we all appreciate that. We have not had the opportunity to engage him to get a detailed report. That report will surely come,” he told Joy News.
Carlos Queiroz was appointed as Otto Addo’s replacement on a short-term contract and led Black Stars to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
