The Western North Regional Police Command has confirmed a shooting incident in Sayerano, Juaboso District, that left 2 people dead and 3 others injured on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

In a statement issued from the Public Affairs Directorate in Sefwi-Wiawso and signed by DSP Humphrey D. Amoah, the Command said it has restored calm in the area and commenced investigations into the incident.

According to the statement, the incident occurred following a confrontation between some members of the Sayerano community and a police patrol team.

During the encounter, three people sustained gunshot wounds. Two of them later died, while the third and two others are currently receiving treatment at the Asafo Roman Catholic Hospital.

The Police said all eight officers involved in the operation have been interdicted with immediate effect.

The Inspector-General of Police has also directed the Police Professional Standards Bureau to conduct a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

“The Western North Regional Command assures the public of a thorough investigation into the incident, and any further development will be communicated,” the statement noted.
