The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has warned that most parts of the country will experience cloudy conditions with thunderstorms and rain from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, July 8 to 9, 2026.

In a weather update issued on Wednesday, July 8, the Agency said parts of northern Ghana are already experiencing thunderstorms with rain, and additional rain-bearing clouds are approaching the country from the east.

According to the forecast, the Upper East, North East, Savannah, Northern and Upper West Regions are expected to be affected first, between 9:10pm and 3:00am. Residents in these areas have been advised to take action as the storms could come with moderate to strong winds.

From 11:00pm to 5:00am, the Volta, Eastern, Oti, Greater Accra and Accra Regions are also expected to experience thunderstorms with or without rain.

The Agency said people in these areas should be aware and get prepared.

The Western, Bono and Ashanti Regions are expected to see similar weather conditions between 12:30am and 7:00am on Thursday.

GMet further cautioned that localised flooding is likely in low-lying and flood-prone areas. It urged the public to take necessary precautions to stay safe during the period.
