The Eastern South Regional Police Command, in collaboration with officers from the National Operations Directorate, has arrested 258 suspects in connection with a violent disturbance that occurred at Nsawam-Adoagyiri on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident led to alleged shop looting, setting fire to an ECG transformer, vandalizing the Oko Anadwo Palace, an astro turf facility, and robbing mobile money vendors.

In a statement, the police said these actions caused widespread fear and panic in the community.

Police retrieved two locally manufactured firearms, quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, suspected tramadol and Viagra tablets, and several mobile phones.

“The suspects are currently in Police custody assisting investigations,” the statement reads.

The Police assures residents that adequate security measures remain in place to safeguard lives and property.

The Command also cautions all residents, particularly the youth, to remain law-abiding and refrain from acts that threaten public peace and security.
