Aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) Women’s Organizer, Betty Krosbi Mensah, has commended President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government for releasing GH¢400 million to capitalize the Women’s Development Bank.

She described it as a bold demonstration of commitment to women’s economic empowerment.

In a statement on Monday, July 13, 2026, Madam Krosbi Mensah said the funding is “more than just an investment” and represents “a clear statement that women are central to Ghana’s economic transformation.”

“Empowering women is not just a promise—it is a commitment being fulfilled.

“This bold step will provide women entrepreneurs, traders, farmers, and small business owners with greater access to finance, helping them expand their businesses, create jobs, and uplift families,” she stated.

She noted that access to capital has long been a major barrier for women in business, and the new bank is expected to bridge that gap.

Madam Krosbi Mensah also commended other key government officials for their roles in the initiative.

“I commend H.E. John Dramani Mahama for his visionary leadership in fulfilling this important commitment. I also applaud the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, for prioritizing this critical investment, and the Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, whose unwavering advocacy for women, education, and inclusive development continues to inspire confidence in Ghana’s future,” she said.

According to her, the initiative reaffirms that women’s empowerment remains a national priority under the Mahama-led administration.

“This initiative reflects the NDC government’s promise to build an economy that leaves no woman behind,” she added.

“As an aspiring Women’s Organizer, I am inspired by this intervention and remain committed to supporting policies that empower women, strengthen communities, and promote sustainable economic growth,” Madam Krosbi Mensah stated.

She stressed that investing in women has a multiplier effect on national development.

“When women are empowered, families prosper, communities thrive, and Ghana moves forward,” she concluded.
