Kumawood actor and film producer Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has announced a GH₵5,000 reward for anyone who helps expose television stations allegedly broadcasting Wezzy Empire movies without authorization.

In a video shared on social media, the Kumawood star appealed to Ghanaians who are passionate about reviving the local movie industry to support the initiative by reporting any unauthorized broadcasts.

“If you are a Ghanaian and you want Kumawood to make a comeback, let’s support this. From now on, if you see any TV station showing a Wezzy Empire movie, record a video of it on your TV and send it to me together with your Mobile Money number. I will send you GH₵5,000,” he said.

According to Lil Win, the move is aimed at protecting the rights of movie producers and ensuring television stations obtain the necessary licenses before airing locally produced films.

He expressed concern that some television stations continue to broadcast Kumawood movies without paying licensing fees, a practice he believes is harming the growth and sustainability of the industry.

“We want the benefits of Kumawood, but some TV stations do not want to support the growth of Kumawood. They keep showing our movies for free without paying any licensing fees,” he stated.

Lil Win has consistently advocated for stronger protection of intellectual property rights within Ghana’s film industry, arguing that unauthorized broadcasting deprives filmmakers of revenue needed to produce quality content and sustain the revival of Kumawood.
