Accra Circuit Court has sentenced Ghanaian TikToker, Camilla Alhassan, to one year in prison after she pleaded guilty to charges of publishing false news about President John Mahama and engaging in offensive conduct.

Camilla, 43, was sentenced on Thursday, July 16, 2026, after the court presided over by Her Honour Emmanuella Asmah, convicted her on her own plea.

The charges stemmed from videos she shared on social media in which she alleged, without evidence, that President John Dramani Mahama buried 32 cows to secure victory in the 2024 general election. The allegations were found to be false.

The TikToker was initially arraigned before Accra Circuit Court 1 on Friday, July 10, 2026, where she pleaded guilty to all charges.

At the time, the court deferred sentencing to July 16 and directed that she undergo a pregnancy test before the adjourned date. She was also remanded into prison custody pending sentencing.

Following the completion of the court’s directives, the court handed Camilla Alhassan a one-year custodial sentence after finding her guilty of publishing false news and offensive conduct.
