The burial of Apostle Emeritus Professor Ing. Kwadwo Safo is set for Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Kantanka Automobile Manufacturing Centre in Gomoa Mpota, Central Region.
The venue is the industrial hub where the late inventor, industrialist and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission realised his vision for a wholly Ghanaian automobile industry.
In line with his last testament, a memorial edifice has been constructed at the complex to house his attire, footwear, tools, inventions, prototypes and selected works as a permanent repository of his contributions to Ghana’s industrialisation and technology.
The national funeral service will follow on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Black Star Square in Accra, where tens of thousands of mourners from Ghana and abroad are expected.
President John Dramani Mahama will lead the nation’s tribute with Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and ministers of state. Former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will attend, as will former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and national executives of both the NPP and NDC.
Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin and MPs from both Majority and Minority Caucuses are also expected. Parliament will make an official statement in his memory, and Parliament TV will broadcast a documentary on his life in engineering, automobile manufacturing, agriculture, education, and national development throughout the week.
Thousands of Kristo Asafo Mission members from across Ghana and delegations from international missions will join family and well-wishers.
The family said initial differences over succession have been set aside as they focus on honouring him.
Final rites will conclude with a Thanksgiving Service on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi.
Apostle Kwadwo Safo is remembered for his legacy in innovation, self-reliance and industrial excellence, and for proving that Africans can solve their own developmental challenges.
