Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has disclosed that the government supported the Black Stars’ campaign in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with GH¢58 million
According to him, the expenditure formed part of the government’s approved budget for national programmes.
“In the spirit of transparency and accountability, allow me to lay before this House a clear account of some of the expenditure we have made so far in support of government programmes and sectors approved in the 2026 Budget.
“To support Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, an amount of GH¢58 million has been paid,” the Finance Minister told Parliament during the presentation of the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament, Ato Forson.
The Black Stars were eliminated by Colombia in the Round of 32 after finishing as one of the third-best teams in the group stages.
