Chief of Staff, Dr. Julius Debrah, has underscored the need for Ghana’s universities to produce graduates whose academic excellence is matched by integrity and innovation to drive the country’s economic transformation.
Representing President John Dramani Mahama at the investiture of Professor Christian Agyare as the 13th Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Debrah described education as one of Ghana’s greatest instruments for national transformation.
He said government looks forward to working closely with KNUST to strengthen research, innovation, entrepreneurship and industry, ensuring that knowledge generated in universities translates into practical solutions, job creation and improved livelihoods for Ghanaians.
Dr. Debrah stressed that higher education institutions must continue to nurture graduates who possess not only academic excellence but also strong ethical values and the capacity to develop innovations that address national challenges.
He also paid tribute to the Chancellor of KNUST, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his leadership and guidance, while commending the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rita Akosua Dickson, for her distinguished service to the university.
The Chief of Staff congratulated Professor Christian Agyare on his appointment as the 13th Vice-Chancellor of KNUST and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the institution into a new era of academic excellence and innovation.
He wished the new Vice-Chancellor wisdom, courage and success as he assumes office, reaffirming government’s commitment to partnering with the university to advance research, entrepreneurship and national development.
