The Minority in Parliament has called for the immediate dismissal of Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams over the 2026 FIFA World Cup visa scandal.
The Minority has also demanded the dismissal of the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), arguing that their continued stay in office could undermine public confidence in investigations into the matter.
Addressing the press at Parliament House, the Ranking Member on the Youth and Sports Committee, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, said the scandal cannot end with the dismissal of one official.
His comments follow President John Dramani Mahama’s suspension of the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.
While acknowledging the President’s decision, Mr. Assafuah said it does not answer all the questions arising from the documentary trail.

“This cannot end with one dismissal. The President has removed [the NSA DG] we acknowledge that decision but the public should not be made to believe that the removal of one official automatically answers every question arising from the document,” he stated.
The Minority is therefore reiteriating their demand of the immediate dismissal of Kofi Adams and the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
“We therefore call for the immediate dismissal of Honourable Kofi Adams, the Minister for Sports and Recreation and the immediate dismissal of the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
“Their continued stay in office in the face of the questions surrounding the roles of their respective institutions cannot be allowed to undermine public confidence in the investigation,” he stressed.
The Minority is also calling for a full, independent and transparent investigation into the entire visa facilitation arrangement.
It further wants the investigation to cover the roles of the Ministry, the Ghana Tourism Authority, the National Sports Authority, Tribe Culture Fest and all individuals linked to the collection of monies and preparation of lists.
