The Secretary of the Juaben Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Zakaria Abdulai, has resigned from his position and withdrawn his candidature for Constituency Chairman.
His resignation follows allegations of sexual abuse involving 19 female students of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, where he serves as Headmaster.
In a letter dated Tuesday, October 20, 2026, to the NDC General Secretary, Mr. Abdulai wrote: “I write to formally notify you of my decision to resign from my position as the incumbent Secretary of the Juaben Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with immediate effect.”
He also announced the withdrawal of his candidature for the Chairmanship in the forthcoming NDC constituency elections.
Mr. Abdulai thanked friends and relatives who have “maintained their faith in my innocence in the face of the allegations levelled against me and my office,” adding that he will now devote his attention to clearing his name.
