The Ghana Education Service (GES) has admonished teachers applying for promotion to disregard demands for money from individuals claiming they can facilitate the application process.
The Service reminds them that the promotion process is conducted freely and required no fee.
According to the GES, it has received reports that some persons are demanding GH¢210 from teacher promotion applicants under the guise of assisting them to secure promotions.
In a statement issued Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the Service described such demands as “fraudulent” and urged applicants not to make any payments.
“Management wishes to emphasise that the teacher promotion process is fair, transparent and entirely free of charge,” the statement said.
The GES advised applicants to ignore anyone requesting payment in exchange for assistance or influence in the promotion process.
“Applicants are, therefore, advised to ignore any demands and refrain from making payments to individuals who claim they can facilitate or influence the promotion process,” it added.
It urged teachers to rely only on official procedures and guidelines communicated by the Ghana Education Service.
The GES reiterated its commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent promotion process for all eligible teachers and encouraged applicants to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes.
