Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has announced her intention to contest again as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya constituency.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 22, 2026, the former MP said she will present herself for consideration when the party announces its timetable and guidelines for parliamentary primaries.
The announcement marks a reversal from her earlier position to pursue opportunities beyond the constituency.
“Earlier, I had indicated my intention to pursue opportunities beyond the constituency. However, upon deeper reflection, I have come to appreciate, that, there is no greater honour or responsibility than serving and representing the interests and aspirations of the over two hundred thousand constituents of our beloved constituency in parliament,” she stated.
Adwoa Safo said her decision to return is informed by her “enduring commitment to the people of Dome-Kwabenya” and her conviction to contribute to the development of the constituency.
Describing Dome-Kwabenya as one of the fastest-growing constituencies in Ghana with significant opportunities and enormous developmental challenges, she pointed to what she described as meaningful progress made during her twelve years of service as MP, working with residents, party faithful, community and religious leaders.
“While much remains to be done, I remain committed to building on the progress we made together and work tirelessly towards a better future for Dome-Kwabenya,” she said.
Recounting her electoral record, the former MP noted that she inherited about 35,000 votes in the constituency, growing it to 63,373 votes in the 2012 election for the NPP and then President Nana Akufo-Addo, 65,488 in 2016, and 75,041 in the 2020 election.
“These achievements are not mine alone. They reflect the dedication, sacrifice and commitment of every party member, supporter and constituent who believed in our shared vision for Dome-Kwabenya,” she said.
She called on party members, stakeholders and constituents to engage with her “in a spirit of openness, candor and mutual respect” as she seeks to lead the next phase of growth and development in the area.
“Dome-Kwabenya is home. It has always been home. My commitment to its people remains unwavering, and my resolve to serve remains steadfast,” she added.
