The Direction de la Coopération Internationale de Sécurité of the French Embassy in Ghana has donated 300 packs of drug test kits to the Narcotics Control Commission.
The donation, which includes urine test kits and accompanying accessories, is intended to support enforcement and operational duties at Kotoka International Airport.
The gesture, according to the DCI Branch of Ghana Regional Police Liaison Officer, Mr. Nicholas Gongora, forms part of the French Government’s support towards fighting organised crime especially drug trafficking.
He assured that the Embassy, through the DCI, is putting in place measures to organise a training session to refresh officers stationed at the AIA to enhance their operational activities at the airport.
Mr. Gongora noted that the Embassy is committed to strengthening cooperation with NACOC to enable it to achieve its mandate.
On his part, the Deputy Director-General in charge of Enforcement Control and Elimination, Lawyer Alexander Twum-Barimah, who received the items on behalf of the Commission, lauded the gesture and thanked the DCI Branch of the Ghana Regional Police Liaison Officer and his team for their commitment to support NACOC’s operational activities.
He reiterated that NACOC will continue to cooperate with the French Embassy and its international partners in curbing the drug trafficking menace in Ghana.
