President John Dramani Mahama has welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s willingness to resume trilateral talks concerning the conflict with Ukraine, calling for a lasting peace agreement that guarantees security for both countries.
Addressing the third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, President Mahama said conflicts around the world had caused deaths and considerable suffering, while severely disrupting global logistics and value chains.
“Ghana calls for an amicable resolution of these various conflicts ongoing around the world,” he said.
President Mahama acknowledged President Putin’s willingness to resume trilateral talks concerning the Ukraine conflict and his call for a lasting peace agreement that would ensure security for both Russia and Ukraine.
He also called for international cooperation and solidarity in the fight against terrorism, particularly in the territories of the Alliance of Sahel States.
The President urged summit participants to turn the opportunities created by their discussions into practical action, saying the lasting value of international friendship should be measured by the progress people experience in their communities and daily lives.
