In a heartwarming and historic event, the aged citizens of Gomoa Amanful, led by Benkumhene Nana Abena Etruba I, planted 50 trees with the assistance of the town’s youth.

This innovative tree-planting exercise, which took place during the 2024 Ahobakɛse Afahyɛ festival, aimed to promote intergenerational collaboration and environmental stewardship.

The oldest participant, Obaatapa Memuna Salifu, aged 100, set an inspiring example for the community.

The aged citizens were not only involved in planting the trees but also prayed and spoke positive words to the young plants, infusing the exercise with spiritual significance.

Project Coordinator Kofi Adoma Nwanwani emphasized that the trees are a legacy for future generations and should be protected. He stated that no one has the right to cut down any of the trees, even if road expansion is necessary.

Instead, the trees should be uprooted and replanted. The District Assembly has assured that no road expansion will affect the trees’ positioning.

This tree-planting exercise was a highlight of the 2024 Ahobakɛse Afahyɛ festival, which also featured a Candle Night Possession to honor the departed, riverside visits, games, and traditional displays.

The festival celebrated the community’s heritage and promoted unity among its citizens.

The trees will serve as a reminder of the community’s commitment to environmental conservation and intergenerational collaboration.

As the trees grow, they will provide a peaceful space for meditation and reflection, symbolizing the connection between the past, present, and future generations.
