As part of efforts to make services rendered by the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) more accessible to the public and increase the Assembly’s Internally Generated Fund (IGF), the Assembly has launched the Twin City Connect App.
This web-based platform aims to reduce bureaucracy, improve access to services, broaden public participation, and ensure unrestricted access to information.
One of the app’s key features is its real-time complaint system, allowing the public to lodge complaints directly with the Assembly.
Explaining the app’s functionality to journalists, Abdul Aziz Mamud, the Social Accountability Officer for the project, highlighted its significance.
“The app provides a platform for the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) and the Coordinating Officer to track the progress of complaints lodged by the public. It is a one-stop shop for all the Assembly’s services, which were previously offered manually,” he said.
On his part, Mr. Abdul Mumin Issaah, the Metropolitan Chief Executive, commended the initiative and emphasized its role in promoting transparency. “The app enables the public to track how the Assembly utilizes its revenue,” he said, encouraging citizens to make full use of the platform.
Mr. Issaah also highlighted how the Twin City Connect App would significantly enhance revenue collection.
“Previously, individuals sent to collect payments could pocket some funds or delay remittances, but now, all payments will be made through the app, ensuring accountability and transparency,” he noted.
The MCE further disclosed that the new system is projected to increase the Assembly’s IGF by at least 20% in the next fiscal year. He emphasized, “Those who attempt to pay revenue manually will no longer have access to the system, as all transactions must now go through the app.”
