Angel Morning Show (AMS) host, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, has been vocal about the ongoing fight against illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana for several days.

According to him, the battle against galamsey will never be won unless the youth take a stand and fight to protect their lands. Following his continuous advocacy, some young people have taken action by visiting galamsey sites to stop the illegal activities in their forests and rivers.

In their efforts, they have burnt some of the heavy machinery used to destroy the forests and have posted warning signs on the sites, demanding that illegal miners stop their operations in the protected areas.

Inspired by Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah’s call to action, the youth have risen up against galamsey, with support from some chiefs, politicians, and other prominent figures who are also speaking out against the practice.

Thanks to these collective efforts, many illegal miners have been forced to flee their sites, as the movement to end galamsey gains momentum across the country.
