President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, has urged John Dramani Mahama to let his re-election promote the peaceful atmosphere his country and Ghana have enjoyed over the years.

In a message to congratulate Mr. Mahama on his re-election as President of Ghana following the resounding victory he secured in the December 7, general elections, Captain Traore expressed the hope that Mr. Mahama’s “mandate at the head of the sister Republic of Ghana will see the strengthening of the age-old relations of good neighborliness between our two countries and that together we will build a stronger and better integrated sub-regional space for the happiness of our peoples.”

John Mahama and his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the elections decisively although the Electoral Commission has yet to officially released the figures.
The NDC has also taken over Parliament by wide majority of over 180 seats according the party’s communication officer Sammy Gyamfi, who addressed the media on Sunday.
